How it works
For each place, using its own currency:
left each month = take-home pay − (rent + other essentials)
Savings rate = left each month ÷ take-home pay. Months of essentials saved per year of work = (left each month × 12) ÷ essentials each month. It answers a currency-free question: how much freedom does a year of work buy in this place?
Commuting hours a year = minutes a day × working days a month × 12 ÷ 60.
No exchange rate is used. Converting would say little about what money buys where it is earned.
What this cannot tell you
- It knows nothing about any city: every number is yours. Check rents and costs locally, and date them.
- It ignores taxes beyond what your take-home figure already reflects, the cost of moving, and exams or registration needed to work abroad.
- It does not score places. The things that matter most in a move are rarely the ones a calculator can see.
Every result comes from the formulas above, run in your browser. There is no AI and no server involved, and the same inputs always give the same answer. Figures are educational estimates, not individualised financial advice.
